Runtime error "Could not install proc" when installing Vensim PLE x64 on Windows 10

Hi,

I am trying to install Vensim PLE x64 v8.0.9 onto a laptop running Windows 10 Home (x64, version 1909, build 18363.778). When I run the installer, choose academic use, enter my name, and then click Next, I receive an error:

Runtime Error (at 43:2614):

Could not call proc.

---------------------------

I am running the installer as an administrator.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I'd run a virus scan first and see if you have any on your system.

Then try disabling the virus scanner to run the installer and see if it works. That kind of error indicates something is interfering with the Vensim installer.

Thanks for the quick response!

There is no virus and the only virus protection enabled is Windows Defender that ships standard with Windows. I disabled real-time protection and attempted the install and still no luck.

What action is the installer attempting after entering the name?

Actually, nevermind. I should have tried this sooner, but I rebooted the machine and the install worked perfectly. Another one of life's mysteries, I suppose!

I'd try downloading again. Maybe it got corrupted during download.

The installer does nothing out of the ordinary. If it cannot call a procedure, that could indicates operating system files have been corrupted/changed.
