I'm trying to open a vpmx file that I downloaded. I'm using Vensim PLE v8.1.1. I get this error: Unable to open the package "/my file path/file.vpmx" (blocked for this application).

What could the issue be? I'm able to open other files in the same format.

Could be a number of things.

1. The author of the model when publishing might not have not ticked PLE as an application that can open it.
2. The model might contain subscripts/external data.

It sounds like that vpmx was blocked by the publisher from opening in PLE, perhaps because it contains subscripts or other things that won't work in PLE.

If you can give us the link to the model, we can check.

Try using the Vensim model reader instead of PLE.
