Mgmt of Technology Course

Post by jm62004@Jetson.UH.EDU »

Hi Iqbal,

There are many on this list who can comment more on your queries than I
can. From my limited experience, I can say I also found using stocks and
flows much easier to start with than the causal-loop approach (I learnt it
the hard way). Somehow the latter became murky very quickly, and the only
way I could get out of trouble was to say that "hey that is exactly the
reason we need SD as a structured approach to study these type of
problems." Your points about the "Aha" experience being paramount are
well-taken. Suggestion: Why not then skip the optimization part altogether
and teach insights through the use of simulations alone. This can easily
take up a semester.
