Modeling Assistance Workshop at Atlanta Conference

Post by paulnewton@attglobal.net »

ANNOUNCEMENT - MODELING ASSISTANCE WORKSHOP - at the 2001 International
System Dynamics Conference - Atlanta - July 23-27:

We are planning for a 1.5 hour workshop during which modelers can seek
feedback on their specific modeling questions from modeling coaches.

Questions may relate to a specific model that modelers are thinking
about, studying, or developing. Questions may also relate to something
that modelers dont understand in one of the system dynamics textbooks;
you might even get the author of the textbook as your coach!

This workshop is for modelers with all levels of modeling abilty, from
beginners to advanced.

Questions may range from problem articulation, formulation of a dynamic
hypothesis, formulation of a simulation model, model testing, or policy
design and evaluation.

We wish to facilitate as much individual attention at the workshop as
possible by aligning each modelers specific question(s) with an
appropriate coach, which alignment is best established well before the
start of the conference. Therefore, to enroll in the workshop, modelers
should email summaries of their questions to
paulnewton@attglobal.net well before the conference, preferably no later

than June 30th. Room may be limited, so sign up early by submitting
your question summary as soon as possible.

We are recruiting a team of experienced volunteers to be modeling
coaches for this session. If you would like to discuss joining the team
of volunteer coaches, please email me at paulnewton@attglobal.net to get
more details.

Modelers may bring whatever materials they need to describe their
modeling question, ranging from pencil and paper, to books, to posters,
to laptop computers. If you bring a computer, be sure your battery is
fully charged as we cannot guarantee AC power.

If you have any questions, please contact me...

Sincerely,

Paul Newton
