Model to link engineering, markets, finance

Post by avery grimes »

To anyone!

I am a PhD student doing research on the future of railways... Im
building a model that links changes in engineering practice to
transportation operations to pricing & demand to income statements and
balance sheets. Actually, the initial trials of this model appear
promising, although it could greatly benefit from other experiences.

Does any know of a similar model out there that links operations with
economics with finance for an industry or firm? Or, is there any recent
research on how similar models should be organized/designed?

Many thanks,

Model to link engineering, markets, finance

The classic reference, as many will no doubt reply, is Jim Lyneis
book: Lyneis, J. M., Corporate Planning and Policy Design, MIT Press,
1980. Check with Pegasus Communications for current availability. Jims
book does not deal in _great_ detail with the engineering/operations
sector but it has the essentials of a corporate model.
