Ive seen a discrete model built with Extend of the service cycle of NASAs
space shuttle program. You should go to the web site of Imagine That
software, download their demo and try it. See if they have the NASA model.
If not send me a direct note. I think I still have a copy. If I can find it,
Ill send it along.

In addition, as I recall the Austrailian Air Force did a model using STELLA
of their FB-111 fleet. Ive never seen that one, but Ive been told that
because the simulated time units are very small (minutes?) and it runs for
something like a simulated week or month, it takes a very long time to run.
This model may have been presented at one of the annual meetings of the
System Dynamics Society. If not, a colleague of mine can tell you who to get
in touch with.
Best regards.

Mark Heffernan at International Systems Dynamics, Inc. in Australia created
the air force model -- you can contact him at: ithink@mpx.com.au It was
presented at the ISD Meeting in Quebec last year.

A year ago I did an extensive project on manufacturing equipment field
service dynamics. This work was presented at the SD conference in Quebec=
last summer and appears in the proceedings: "Macro- and Micro-Modeling o=
f
Field Service Dynamics." A revised and extended version will appear as a=
n
article in the SD Review later this year.

Hello!
My name is Dmitro Uzun, Im interested in the System Dynamic Modelling of
the aircraft after-sale service(AAS). Can anybody give me an advice -- where
can i get some info about this stuff (AAS) and about usefullness of SDM in
this area of knoledge?
Sincerely, Dmitro D. Uzun

Dimitri,
We here at Landair International have considerable experience in
developing sophisticated SD models for various areas of the airline
industry.
We have developed models that address issues such as
Spares Optimization (for the UK Defence Helicopter Support Agency), an
airline corporate planning model and a model for optimisation of crew
planning operations (currently under development for a major Far Eastern
airline).
For a detailed overview of the company see our web site at

Hi Dimitriy,
My name is John McLuckie from International System Dynamics Pty Ltd based
in Sydney, Australia. We have developed a range of System Dynamic Models
for managing aircraft in service. This has been primarily in the defence
arena. Please find attached a copy of paper presented at ISD conference in
Quebec (July 1998). This may be of interest. Look forward to hearing from
you. We are also the "ithink" distributors for Australia.
[Hosts note: Attachments are not supported on this list. If anyone would like
a copy of the paper please write directly to John.]
Regards
John McLuckie

Depends on what you intend to model.
Have you ever thought of discrete simulators? I have seen some interesting
presentations of modelling studies of hospitals, factories etc. Also with
SD tools such as Powersim.
An interesting website is: http://argesim.tuwien.ac.at
or http://argesim.tuwien.ac.at
This is a site at Vienna University of Technology. They also offer seminars
on simulation (where I saw the presentations mentioned above).
